Russian rally finally on track

Published 07 January, 2008, 12:41

The Russian Breakthrough rally has finally started in the Moscow region three days later than planned. Following the cancellation of the Dakar race, organisers decided to change the route, which led to the start being postponed.

The four teams were supposed to drive through thirty European and African countries. They were planning to meet with Russia's entry in the Dakar race during the Senegal stage.

However, after threats of terror attacks in Mauritania the organisers were forced to modify the route. Now it will cover only the eastern coast of Africa and go through just twelve countries.
