Tanks keep teens off the streets in Siberia

A Siberian grandfather with a passion for history wants to pass his enthusiasm on to the next generation. So he’s teaching his grandson how to build replica tanks from World War II.
Vyacheslav Veryovochkin is the only man in Russia producing working replicas of tanks and armoured cars. He started to make them a few years ago.
“My grandson was growing up and there were people all around who were drinking and taking drugs. So to avoid all this I made an armoured car with him and his friends as a project. So they were here doing this, not hanging around in the street. Now there are more young people, so we make more tanks,” Veryovochkin says.
From being a hobby to fire his grandson's imagination it has taken on a life of its own. Having been bought by a collector in Moscow, some of the models will appear in films.
