Russian ice hockey of 2007 reviewed

As we head into 2008, it's a good time top look back on the year just gone. RT takes a peek at Russian ice hockey in 2007 with help of Vyacheslav Bykov, the man in charge of both CSKA and the Russian national side.

Bykov shared his thoughts on the year with the Moscow club. Under his guidance CSKA reached the semi-finals of the Super League play-offs, losing to AK Bars.

AK Bars would then go on to meet Metallurg Magnitogorsk. The Kazan side were hot favourites to win the Super League crown, but Metallurg came back to win the decider.

With the Superleague finished, attentions turned to the World Championships in Moscow, with Russia one of the favourites to take gold. However, the bubble burst in the semis again, with a defeat to Finland.

Bykov had little time to rest though as he was already planning ahead for the new season, looking to improve on CSKA's semi-final play-off defeat.
