Take a walk inside a giant stove!

Published 23 December, 2007, 15:18

The traditional Russian stove – which was once very much at the heart of the Russian home – has been given its very own exhibition in Russia’s Kaluga region. Visitors are even able to stand inside a giant 11-metre-high stove and learn how to bake Russian pies in the true old-school manner.

Traditionally, the stoves were used both to keep the house warm and to make food. At the same time it could be used as a bed, with old people and children often sleeping on top of it.
