Metal wear: fashion's next big thing?

For dedicated followers of fashion the next big thing could be a hi-tech textile produced by Russian scientists. The result – lightweight clothes with a coating of metal.
Professor Boris Gorberg is the man who created the material and covered textiles with metal.
He says the state refused to pay for his research back in the Soviet days. Private investors then made it possible. Now the business is starting to bring in profits.
He starts a device which pumps the air out of a chamber and blasts in argon gas. The particles are then accelerated by the magnetic field until they turn into plasma, in turn making the atoms from this metal sheet stick to the fabric.
Fashion designers from Nina Ricci are already using this sci-fi fabric for their new collections. They send raw material to the professor, who puts it through his plasmatron and sends it back.
Boris Gorberg says his hi-tech cloth has another magical application – it fully blocks any radio signals. As a result, the military is already using similar technology to make Russian troops and vehicles invisible to radar.
