Spartak will meet a team that which have been eliminated from the Champions League in the UEFA Cup knock-out stages. The Muscovites failed to top their group and will have to make do with second place in Group E. The draw is to be made on Friday.
Spartak, already through, fielded a weakened side as they lost 2-1 at Toulouse. Santos scored both goals to give the French team a two-goal lead. Dzyuba pulled one back for Spartak with a penalty, but it finished 2-1.
In the other Group E game, Russian striker, Dmitry Bulykin, scored twice in Bayer Leverkusen's 5-0 hammering of Zurich. The victory meant the German side top the group.
Zenit await their fate
In today’s matches Russian champions Zenit must rely on other results to make it into the round of 32.
This is how things stand with just one set of matches left to play. Zenit are not in action, but the St Petersburg men will progress to the knock-out phase if they finish in the top three.
Standing in their way are AZ Alkmaar and Nurnberg who will both join Everton if they take all three points in their clashes. A draw in either game will send Zenit through.
