Muslims celebrate 'Feast of Sacrifice'

Muslims across Russia are celebrating Kurban Bayram or the Feast of Sacrifice. In southern Russia’s Kabardino-Balkarian Republic the day has been declared a holiday. People of different nationalities and religions are joining the traditional Islamic celebrations.

While the Feast of Sacrifice is not a day off in Russia, the authorities of Kabardino-Balkaria have declared it an official holiday for the republic's citizens.

“Muslims all over the world congratulate each other and wish one another well-being and prosperity. In our republic there are no conflicts between people belonging to different nationalities and religions,” said Khadar Misirov, Deputy Mufti, Kabardino-Balkarian Republic.
