Russian Santas join forces to face New Year

Published 18 December, 2007, 10:16

Russia's Santa Claus – Father Frost – traditionally resides in the town of Veliky Ustyug. His colleague from Karelia is less famous but just as hardworking. He lives in a traditional dwelling and reindeer are his main mode of travelling around Russia’s north-western land of 60,000 lakes.

The population of Karelia is 700,000 so lots of work is involved – and that's not all, as he always helps out his colleague from Veliky Ustyug – if needed.
