King Tut shows his true face

The mummy of the Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun has been unveiled in the Valley of the Kings in Egypt.
For the first time visitors can see the face of the boy king inside his tomb. The unveiling marks 85 years since British explorer Howard Carter found the mummy and its treasures.
Tutankhamun is the youngest of Egyptian rulers, who died of unknown causes 1322 BC at the age of 19.
“When we did a scan of the mummy in 2005, we discovered it was in bad shape and we wanted to preserve it in the tomb. So we decided to make this glass coffin. It was especially designed in Europe and will protect it against humidity, heat, dust and everything else,” – explains Gamal Mahgoub, head of conservation at Valley of the Kings.
