The title race in the Russian Premier League will go to the final weekend. Both Zenit and Spartak were winners on Saturday. So the gap at the top is still two points but now with just one game to go.
Only a win would allow Spartak to stay in touch with table toppers Zenit going into the final round. Five minutes from halftime, Milan Vjestica brought down Wellington just outside the box, and Maxim Kalinichenko made Rostov pay, netting the free kick over the defenders and into the top left corner. The visitors had their chances after the break, but instead Spartak scored their second in the 67 minute. Eight minutes later Spartak put it out of sight. Roman Pavluchenko put Denis Boyarintsev through and Denis did the rest. 3-0 Spartak the final score.
Meanwhile, Zenit also got three points at home. Andrey Arshavin scored twenty minutes in. It wasn't one of Zenit's most convincing performances but they did enough to stay top. 1-0 it finished and the title will be decided on the final matchday, when Zenit travel to Saturn, while Spartak play Dynamo at home.
