Models, mermaids and wood-nymphs mix at Russian Fashion Week

The Russian Fashion Week is on in Moscow, and one of the highlights is the collection by young Russian designer Cyrille Gassiline (Kirill Gasilin) – a dive into a world of rustling taffeta and flying silk, calm colors and smooth silhouettes.
If a girl puts on a dress by Cyrille Gassiline, it's like turning into a mermaid or a wood-nymph. The make-up is very slight, the hair style – very simple. The designer has very definite requirements for what he wants his models to look like.
“Limpid appearance, no striking features, no straight and bright eye-brows. They should be transparent, as if they were painted with water colors,” explains Cyrille Gassiline.
And with a touch of water spray – a 'mermaid' is ready to appear from one of his fairy-tale creatures.
There is a trace of antiquity and the romantic past in Cyrille Gassiline's works which reflects his keen interest in the history of fashion.
The young designer studied historical garments under the guidance of the well-known fashion historian Aleksandr Vasiliev. The master was among the spectators and was very pleased with his apprentice's work at the show in Moscow.
“No else today can beat him when it comes to modernity and style,” claims Aleksandr Vasiliev, fashion historian.
