sochi it's a part of circassian homeland wich russia toked in 1864 the end of russian coucassian wore. 1.5 million people of the circassian killed in sochi in that wore and tody they want to make olympics in the same place!!!. as i know the olympic gamse it's found to sprid the peace between the nation's,sow how can russia do that in sochi??? sochi will stay a part of circassian homeland.
I think the mascot of the sochi olympics should be three cats because they are cute and bring happiness to family's I think you all should agree with me that mascots are important and bring evey nation together as one. But the most super important thing is that the olymipics will never end as long as we believe in the olympic spirit and the how great the world is.
I agree with the persons who have suggested bringing back Misha from the 1980 Olympics, and also the idea of the contributor who suggested bringing him back as a white (polar) Misha, suggestive of winter.
Or, and I'm no zoologist, although i love animals, but are there (and there must be many) animals indigent to the area where the Winter Olympics will be held in the elevated areas of Sochi who are most active in winter? One of them might be a novel choice.

I am strongly against an olympic event to take place in Sochi. Sochi was once the mighty capital of a Circassian nation and now a Russian stadium is being put up on the graves of the great ancestors of modern Europe. This olympic event is taking place in Circassia becuase circassia is the most beutiful region in all of Russia and it deserves it's recognition as an independent race of people.
I don't know if it's just me or not, but when I think of a dolphin it makes me think of something realllly wet, nor can I even picture it wearing an ushanka and being a mascot for Winter Olypmics. A dolphin would be a perfect mascot for some kind of swimming tournament, not Winter Olympics. I say they should stick with a bear or cub this time. :)

Getting back to the point - perhaps using the Bear (as someone has already posted) is a good basis on which to start. But,I think that politicians keep out of it and let the children of the free world decide (Russian Federation) in an open competition with the 1 st prize being all expenses paid trip for the family at the opening festivities.
If the purpose of the mascot is to represent the special and unique qualities of Russia, then it should be a hybrid creature composed of equal parts oligarch, silovik, and gopnik.
