Any private space business ventures and companies should meet the highest safety and professional standards. Government and private space programmes could complement each other.
It will depend on what aspect of space travel. Short trips and holidays, then yes private ones will as there is profit in that. Space exploration, then its NO at least not in the near future as there is no profit in that so its purely scientific. Will also take this chance to take my hat off to all the former members of the USSR and Russia in particular on the 50 years of space travel. The milestones of humanity in space can never be beaten-- First artifical satellite First Animal and more likely first microbes First Man First Woman First Space walk All that is left is first Child I guess. there is also the first man made object on another plant(moon) but that would be broken many times in the future. Also glade Russia is still making waves like the new russian craft being most likely to be the solo transport fot the ISS.I hear they are also to supply the rocket that would be used by NASA.
I'm sure that a partnership of public and private is the best way to go, here.
This seems an appropriate place to congratulate Russia on a momentous anniversary - 50 years since Sputnik. I don't remember it(!) but the names of Korolev, Gagarin, Komarov, Leonov, Romanenko et al stir the imagination of all of us who are interested in the history of space flight.
A resounding "YES".Governments do very little GOOD! Private enterprise (Business) when left alone from regulation, has improved ALL of mankind's lives a hundred fold, over Government programs EVER! I look forward to private companies improving the space industry.
Private Companies are already in the forefront in terms of space Tourism, and in the near future - Space exploration, Deep Space mining, deep space tourism and finally colonization etc, will involve private capital, initiatives and Dynamism, just as the private individuals opened up hiretho unexplored regions on earth. However national goverments could step in to claim those areas as their own afterwards. But private is the way to go.AT LEAST INITIALLY!

Government has done a good job of laying the foundation now it is time for private enterprise to take over or a combination of the two.
I believe that the only way to really accomplish something in this arena is to allow free enterprise in.
